We have been together for more than a decade now, we are not yet married but we live together. Each day that I wake up, I say a little prayer that he will ask me to marry him and be his legal wife but every day I get disappointed. When we talk about marriage, it pisses him off, he would tell me that marriage is just paper. What matters according to him is, we are in good terms and we enjoy being together. A woman’s ultimate dream is to walk down the isle and be tied up with the man she truly loves. But he has a different view. One day I woke up and the shallowness inside me was terrible. Before he opened his eyes, I was miles away from him and I was running towards a new life without him.

I  always get irritated when my mother tells me that I should not have a boyfriend while I am still studying. She told me that I will have a hard time concentrating in my studies if I get too attached with someone. She said, I will find a decent man with a stable job when I graduate. She pissed me off and I did not listen to her. I stick with the boyfriend until I graduated from college. Since he was an undergraduate when we got married, I needed to work and he stays at home and takes care of our children. At the office, I got to meet a lot of eligible bachelors that  have a high paying job but I was married already. It is during the times that we have some financial crisis that I remember my mother and her wise words. If I only listened to her, I should have given my children a better life.
